Smart Design

TWG’s gearing products use electronic data-capturing technology to provide real-time information that alerts equipment operators to potentially unsafe conditions, such as overloads, blind spots, or final layers of wire rope. Smart Design also minimizes the risk of equipment malfunction or catastrophic failure, and provides companies with vital documentation regarding the use or misuse of equipment.

TWG’s Drum Rotation Indicator/Last Layer Indicator (DRI/LLI) technology provides a dual solution for equipment operators whose sightlines prevent them from determining two critical equipment conditions: drum rotation and the last layer of wire rope.

• DRI signals to the operator when the winch has initiated rotation. The operator’s joystick tangibly vibrates, alerting him to the condition and enabling him to take appropriate action.
• LLI signals the operator via an intermittent audio alarm when the last layer of rope has been reached upon payout. A second, steady alarm sounds when the fifth wrap (programmable) has been reached, enabling the operator to take appropriate action.

TWG’s Intelliguard™ technology measures torque on the shaft of the winch then displays the winch’s rated capacity on a light bar to help operators avoid winch overloading. Intelliguard’s data-logging technology aids fleet managers with asset management by recording all critical winch events, including clutch engagement and disengagement. With its easy data collection feature and at-a-glance reports, Intelliguard is a proven technology to help avoid failure points, extend equipment life, and enhance warranty, liability and service programs.

TWG’s Work Area Definition (WAD) technology helps crane operators avoid unseen obstacles, such as power lines, walls, or other crane booms. An LCD screen provides continuous display of crane geometry in all light conditions, and offers multiple language options, easy-to-understand graphics, and quick set up.
